Fine, dark impression of the first of three states, with narrow margin, and partially uncleaned plate edges. Before the publication line and before significant changes in the sky in later states. Retaining the smooth, reflective sky, later flecked with white froth by the third state. Roulette has been used to strengthen the shadows. A chalk and wash drawing of this view is in the British Museum (1904,0819.100).
