Henri Pille was a French painter and illustrator. He painted genre and historical scenes but is mainly known as an illustrator – his works were published in numerous newspapers and he illustrated a vast number of books including the complete works of Shakespeare and Victor Hugo’s Notre-Dame de Paris. His drawings were also published in Le Chat Noir’s magazine and he designed silhouettes for the cabaret’s shadow theatre.
