Marjorie Welish
Indecidability of the Sign
What do we mean when we say that something 'is the same', or that something 'is different'?
The works of Marjorie Welish explore forms of repetition and difference within the means of art. Differentials within a gradient are not of the same echelon as disjunctive orders structuring form.
Welish writes, 'Incommensurate logic brought into equilibrium are of great interest to me, in part to further the concerns of modern abstraction by opening the givens of modernism to investigation.'
