This series of four photos was taken in the summer of 1976 at the Varsity Apartments’ swimming pool and sauna in Boulder, Colorado. That summer, William S. Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg and Philip Whalen all lectured at the Buddhist-inspired Naropa University’s Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics. Ginsberg was Co-Director of the School. Studying the four photos, one notices that Ginsberg and Burroughs are in the process of sharing an apple.
