Similar in apprearance to his sculptures, these curvi-linear figures acted as important markers of space clearly defining the foreground, middle-ground and background. The figure's expressive poses along with Wauer's fantastical application of colours (purple, brown, grey, deep blue) further reinforce the mythical qualities of the original oil on panel painting.
