Size of sheet: 25 x 16.5 cm. Size of plate: 12 x 8.5 cm. Auguste Cain was a French animalier sculptor. He first worked in the family butchery before turning to animal sculptures. His monumental bronze animal sculptures still adorn the Porte des Lions of the Louvre and the Tuileries and Luxembourg gardens in Paris.
