Albert Aublet was a French Orientalist painter. He was a student in the workshop of Jean-Léon Gérôme and later became the president the artists’ society of Tunis. He is believed to have been used as a model for M. Biche, a regular of Madame Verdurin’s salon, in Marcel Proust’s À la recherche du temps perdu.
