Jules Grévy (1807-1891) was a French politician. He served as the fourth Président of France in 1879-87 and is seen as the first republican president of France, through his institutional reforms, notably establishing 14 July as the national day of France, and the Marseillaise as its national anthem. Another copy of this image is in the collection of the LA County Museum of Art.
