Part of the series of six lithographs Oeuvres de Lord Byron, published in 1823. Four lithographs - all displayed in our exhibition - were the result of the collaboration between Gericault and Lami, the other two were by Lami only.

Gericault was the first French artist to use themes from Byron. All of Gericault's Byronic works are based on themes of exile and tragic love.
