Le jardin des Tuileries 1896
Edouard Vuillard
* 1868 † 1940
Lithograph in pale and dark blue, yellow, green on Chine volant paper. Size of sheet: 32.5 x 46 cm.
Literature: Roger-Marx 28 (working proof)
Very rare working proof of an intermediate state, between Roger-Marx’s first and second, before the patterning of the dress of the woman in the center, and before extensive work on the foliage in and around the tree.
A proof impression before Vollard’s edition in the first Album des peintre-graveurs in 1896. Roger-Marx only recalls two or three such working proofs.
Excellent fresh impression with strong colours, with the green and yellow stones creating a much more brilliant turquoise than in the issued impressions.
