From the series of seven plates from Il Funerale d'Agostino Carraccio fatto in Bologna sua patria dagli'Incaminati Accademici del Disegno, published in Bologna in 1603 by Vittorio Benacci.
Each of the five numbered scenes is after a painter in the Accademia Degl'Incamminati. During the memorial festivities for Agostino Carracci, held the 18th of January 1603 in the Chiesa dell'Hospital dela Morte in Bologna, the pictures were facing the altar, "in painted stone- imitation frames, each having a short maxim and arranged one above the other" (T.I.B., p.307). 1. Painting and Poetry mourning the death of Agostino Carracci, after Francesco Brizio; 2. The deceased artist eulogized by Painting, with a Lyre, and Apollo, after Giacomo Cavedone; 3. The head of Christ, which Agostino Carracci was painting when he died, after Agostino Carracci; 4. Prometheus animating one of his statues with the Fire of the Gods, after Alessandro Albini; 5. Aurora abducting Cephalus, after Leonello Spada.
