Tempête et Calme. 2004.

Judith Rothchild

* 1950 in Boston

Tempête et Calme, a poem by Jules Verne, was written in 1848 when the author was just twenty. The poem literally passes through a storm before reaching safe haven on the other side. The text, superimposed on a series of four mezzotints by Judith Rothchild, unfolds as a vertical leporello. It was printed on Hahnemühle paper. Numbered and signed by the artist. Edition of 38. Size 30.5 x 16.5 cm. Text in French.

The mezzotints and screen prints were printed by the artist. Mark Lintott printed the letterpress, handset in Vendôme Romain, on an Albion press. The clamshell boxes and covers, with original screen prints by Judith Rothchild, are by Mark Lintott.

Three copies are hors commerce. Number 38/38 is reserved for the Bibliothèque Nationale de France.
