Publisher’s printed wrapper (text) and cloth-back portfolio tied with ribbons (plates). Original glassine wrapped printed dust-jacket and blind wrappers (Text volume). Full tan and grey cloth portfolio, with red lettering to spine (Plate volume). String ties. Text volume is uncut and unopened.

Elaborate catalogue raisonné, and still the principal authority, of the engraved work of Robert Nanteuil, a 17th-century French portrait artist, engraver, draughtsman and pastellist to the court of Louis XIV. This catalogue is based on the authors’ collection, purchased en bloc in 1928 by Lessing Rosenwald (Ruth Fine, Lessing J. Rosenwald: tribute to a collector, Washington, DC 1982, p.125).

Together with the catalogue raisonné, the text volume also contains a biography written by François Courbois. In excellent condition apart from some age-toning on the first sheet of the portfolio. Text in French. One of 750 unnumbered copies.
