The date inscribed on the plate '1617' is the year of Goltzius's death. However, the date of execution of the print must be between 1695 and Edelinck's death in 1707 as the title of “Chevalier Romain” (“Eques Romanus”), also inscribed on the plate, was received by the artist in 1695.
