Portraits. 2021

Judith Rothchild

* 1950 in Boston

The nine mezzotints by Judith Rothchild inspired Ruth Fainlight’s poem “Theoretical.”

The oval, reminiscent of classic portraiture, provided the framework for the series. The mezzotints were printed by the artist in an edition of twenty on 300g. Hahnemühle paper. The edition is numbered I/XX –XX/XX. The mezzotints were also printed individually numbering 1/30 to 30/30. The individual mezzotints are available for sale here.

The hand-set letterpress was printed on a Vandercook N° 4 by Mark Lintott on Rives BFK grey and cream. He also created the clamshell boxes.

Number XX/XX is reserved for the Bibliothèque Nationale de France.

Size: 40.6 x 30.5 cm
