'In 1805 Robert Cromek commissioned Blake to design and engrave illustrations for the popuplar poem 'The Grave'. Blake designed the illustrations, but in the end executed only one of the designs (Death's Door). Cromek disliked Blake's style of execution. Instead, he transferred this aspect of the commission to Schiavonetti. Commercially, at any rate, Cromek's decision made sense: as many Blake scholars have discussed, the illustrations from 'The Grave' were more widely known by Blake's contemporaries than other of his designs' (BM).
