Isaac Rodrigue Péreire was a French banker, particularly known for having a financial participation in the modernisation of Paris undertaken by Haussmann and for his responsibility in the development of a large number of railway lines. He also financed the first experimentations of Clément Ader, who tested Eole, his first plane prototype in the gardens of Péreire’s country estate. Another copy of this image is in the collection of the Musée d’Orsay.
