Guillaumin was a popular artist with an established reputation, and there was a strong market for his work. Vollard’s accounts record the sale of 20 works before the publication date of Vollard’s L’Album des peintres-graveurs in 1896; these included purchases by such influential collectors as Blot, Viau, Dufau (all subscribers to the album) as well as sales to Meier-Graefe, Takova, de Camentron and others.
