Horst Janssen
Totentanz suite

After meeting the much younger Bettina Sartorius in 1973, the focus of Janssen's work shifted to the theme of 'old man and young girl', taking up the erotic and demonic facet. The artist is concerned with the wild drama that lies in the war between the sexes, and he intensifies this drama by showing the man as a skeleton or Death itself. The suite Totentanz contains 11 etchings made between 1973-74.
