The Lad series comprises of 36 photographs of objects and places. The title of the series comes from the word 'Lad',which, in plattdeutsch or 'low German' defines a trunk on wheels that was used by by people fleeing war, flood or fire. It  contained the most important household items such as documents, valuables, souvenirs, dishes or clothes.
